Released in 2017 through Relucent Records, Jacob Stanifer's latest single is a song that comes to terms with reality. With its dramatic yet simple instrumental and honest lyrics, "Freefall" is about letting go of the things that don't matter and surrendering to something much greater.
Jacob says, "The inspiration for Freefall came after a rough period of time when I was trying to solve some problems in my life. I tried so hard to fix everything myself and prove my worth. It was as if I was climbing a self-created mountain just to reach higher ground, and I got to a point where I couldn't climb any further. It was a crossroads of sorts; I could either keep holding on to my broken problems, or simply let go and fall back into God's always-open arms. The song came from a perspective of honesty, realizing that our own human efforts are never enough.
"Freefall is a special song to me. Besides the fact that it reflects my own experiences, this song was the first time I incorporated my own vocals in a project. It was a humbling experience, and I've never felt so connected to the music I make. My hope is that this song speaks to people like it does to me. I wrote it for myself more than anyone, but I hope it causes you to think."
